Hello pie fans!
Bloomfield Market this Saturday
The Bloomfield Farmers' Market is this Saturday, February 18 from 11a-2p. The weather will be chilly but sunny -- ideal winter farmers' market conditions. Below are the flavors I'll have:
Savory:
lamb & feta
chicken tagine
berbere beef
mushroom, potato & leek
curried chickpea & butternut
jerk sweet potato black bean
Sweet:
apple
sweet potato
chocolate pecan
chocolate peppermint cream
key lime
I'm still working on beef pho, the newest savory flavor: keep posted for that! I've been doing some experimenting...
Also, as always, if ever you would like a large (10") sweet pie, please let me know at least two days in advance of the market what you would like! You can call or text me at 412-206-5192 or email me at pghpieguy@gmail.com. This week's deadline is tomorrow, Thursday Feb 16 at noon.
Pies & Pints @ 3ROC
The first Pies & Pints at the 3 Rivers Outdoor Co. was a success! They were pouring beers (for a $5 donation that went to the Rachel Carson Trail Conservancy), the campfire was roaring out front, and hot savory pies were to be had.
It will become a monthly event, happening next month on March 10th from 5p-8p at the 3 Rivers Outdoor Co., 1130 Braddock Ave, Pittsburgh 15218 in Regent Square.
I'll also be there for a special Pi Day version of Pies & Pints on Tuesday, March 14th from 5p-8p. It coincides with their weekly run club that meets at 6p there for a trail run through Frick Park. You can lace up and join the run club and get some pies after, or just come for pies.
Bake It!
Good Taste Pittsburgh is putting on a baking show next month, and I've been invited to give a pie dough demonstration!
Bake It! is a new event that will include demos from other bakers; workshops; baking ingredients, accessories & equipment for sale; and baked goods for sale from bakers around town. A baking bonanza.
It's on Sunday, March 12th from 1:00 - 6:00p in the Sheraton at Station Square,
300 W Station Square Dr, Pittsburgh 15219. Tickets are $10-25 and can be purchased here.

That's all the news for now. See you at the Bloomfield market!
